Biología y acuicultura de corvinas en el mundo

Salvador Cárdenas

Resumen


La especies que se crían dentro de la familia de los Esciénidos, a nivel comercial y/o experimental, son corvina de Amoy Argyrosomus amoyensis (Nibea miichthioides) en China; corvina plateada Argyrosomus inodorus en Sudáfrica; corvina africana Argyrosomus japonicus en Australia, Sudáfrica y Taiwan; corvina mediterránea Argyrosomus regius en España, Egipto, Francia, Italia, Marruecos y Turquía; corvina blanca Atractoscion nobilis en EE.UU. y México; corvina pampera Cilus gilberti en Chile; corvina pinta Cynoscion nebulosus en EE.UU. y México; corvina golfina Cynoscion
othonopthreus en México; corvinata real Cynoscion regalis en EE.UU. y México; corvina boquinaranja Cynoscion xanthulus en EE. UU.; corvina azafrán Larimichthys crocea en China; corvinón amarillo Micropogonias funieri en Uruguay; corvina roncadina Micropogonias undulatus en EE.UU.; corvina negra Pogonias cromis en EE. UU.; corvallo Sciaena umbra en Grecia y Turquía; corvinón ocelado Sciaenops ocellatus en Ecuador, EE.UU., China, Israel, Martinica, México y Taiwan; corvinata totoaba Totoaba macdonaldi en México; verrugato Umbrina cirrosa en Chipre, España, Grecia, Italia y Turquía (Tabla 1). El corvinón ocelado se empezó a criar en los EE.UU. en los años 70, propagándose su cultivo por Martinica (1987), China (1991), Israel (1997) y Ecuador (2002).
