One case of gonadal neoplasm in mussels (Mytilus galloprovincialis) collected from the ria of
Vigo. Specimens of Mytilus galloprovincialis collected from the Ria of Vigo during the reproductive
cycle presented a possible gonadal neoplasm, entailing morphologically abnormal germinal cells
distributed throughout the follicle and invading the storage tissue, gonoducts and hemic sinusoids.
This gonadal disorder is observed only in males and all affected individuals were found between
april and june. For the rest of the year, individuals presented normal gonadal tissue.
